One and only flying boat: Spruce goose

The Hughes H-4 Hercules is otherwise known as “spruce goose”. It was designed, developed, and manufactured by Hughes aircraft company in Los Angeles in the USA. It was a flying boat that it means, it always travels just a few feet above from the sea level at a much faster speed and covers much distance on the water surface. This was the first and final flight had ever made in history. Like this, no flights are made till now in both this model and this like other models also.

Spruce goose is planned to make for transports the troops and freights during the period of world war 2. From America to other allied countries mainly Britain. The Hitler’s Nazi troops are constants attacks on Atlantic fleet of America tried to breaks the connection between America and the other allied countries that make troops and goods transport between those countries is more difficult because the transport on a system through the seaway is relatively slow and transport on air is more risk due to German Airforce and navy.so, the US government thought transport on seaway on sufficient speed is good that’s why they develop the spruce goose it fulfils all are needs.
But they are unable to develop this flight within the war period because the Hughes team needs to face several difficulties on that. So, after the world war, this flight is successfully completed for that US government spend 22million us dollars and Hughes aircraft company spend 18 million us dollars of their own money at that time money value. Finally, its first successful maiden brief flight made on 2nd November 1947. In history, it flew only once. Meanwhile, its maiden flight was successful but it never went to production after that.
Spruce goose’s height is 79ft, the length is 218ft, payload carrying capacity is 65,000kg and its total weight is 1,80,000kg and its wingspan is 320ft wide. Its top speed is 400km/h. this was considered the biggest flight at that time. Now it rests in the Evergreen aviation and space museum in Mcminnville, Oregan, USA.
